Scholarship Audition Dates/Information
Contact the Band Office at 662-325-2713 to schedule your audition for the 2025 Famous Maroon Band.
Audition Dates are below (all by appointment)
- Weekdays (Monday - Friday) during Spring semester through March 28
- Friday, November 22 (Music majors only)
- Friday, January 31 (For students attending the MSU Honor Band Clinic)
- Saturday, February 22 (Preferred date for incoming music majors; all other majors are welcome)
- Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15 (open to all majors)
Brass & Woodwind Scholarship Audition Requirements
- 5 major scales (Student's choice, 2 octaves where appropriate.)
- Chromatic scale
- A 1-2 minute prepared piece that demonstrates your best qualities as a musician
- Sight reading
Percussion Scholarship Audition Requirements
Percussionists are encouraged to audition on multiple instruments, but this is not required.
- Snare Drum

- 5 rudiments (Student's choice, Open-Closed-Open)
- Long Roll
- A 1-2 minute prepared piece (on concert or marching snare) that demonstrates your best qualities as a musician
- Sight reading
- Mallet Percussion

- Same as Brass & Woodwind requirements
- Timpani

- Etude or solo
- Percussionists must also be placed successfully on the drumline to receive a scholarship award. See below.
Drumline Auditions
- The 2025 MSU Drumline audition submissions are due on Friday, May 2. The audition packet will be available in January 2025.

- Audition submissions for the 2025 MSU Feature Twirlers are due on Saturday, March 15.
- Audition submissions for the 2025 MSU Color Guard are due on Saturday, April 26.
